SSU, City of Savannah announce 19th Annual Savannah Black Heritage Festival, Feb. 1-14


SAVANNAH—The 19th Annual Savannah Black Heritage Festival, presented by the city of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Savannah State University, will take place February 1-14 , 2008, in a series of events highlighting the cultural and artistic contributions of African-Americans. The 2008 festival theme is “Yesterday’s Story, Today’s Legacy.”
The highlight of the 2008 Savannah Black Heritage Festival will be the Grand Festival Day, which will be held at the Savannah Civic Center on February 9. This all-day affair provides a cultural learning village for children, arts and crafts demonstrations, entertainment acts, a health and wellness fair, and various vendors.
The 2008 festival will be the ninth produced by Savannah State University and the 19th sponsored by the city of Savannah. All festival events are free and open to the public. For additional information, contact the Savannah Black Heritage Festival message line at (912) 691-6847
